| Navigating the deluge of credit cards
That's because a greater portion of monthly payments will go toward paying down the principal. Low-interest-rate cards come in two categories: permanent and introductory. Consumers who think it might take a year or longer to pay off credit card debt should consider a card that has a fixed low interest rate, Hardekopf said. Introductory cards have the lowest interest rates, sometimes as low as zero, which typically last for three months to one year, he said. After the introductory period ends, the interest rates can increase substantially. Transferring a large balance from a higher-interest card to a credit card with a low introductory rate could be the right move for consumers who are able to pay off the card before the expiration period. Keep in mind that the introductory rate applies to the transferred balance, not new purchases.
ADAC makes high profile participation at airport show
In June 2006, ADAC announced that it has selected Kohn Pederson Fox Associates 'KPF' as the top finalist firm for appointment as the master architect for the Midfield Terminal Complex of Abu Dhabi International Airport. The London-based firm has been invited for further negotiations to put together a final deal. KPF has assembled a team of leading airport consultants, including the internationally-renowned Netherland Airport Consultants B.V. 'NACO', and ARUP, to design the gateway terminal for the capital city, in the midfield between the existing runway and a second one to be built two kilometers to the north The Midfield Terminal is projected to handle 20 million passengers per annum to the Airport's capacity when it comes on stream by 2010. That would mark the end of phase one of the redevelopment program.
Omega Five Review (Xbox Live Arcade)
There has never been a genre more classic than that of the side-scrolling shooter. There is just something about constantly scrolling to the right that brings a tear to a gamer's eye. The Xbox Live Arcade gets a fresh new spin on your father's scrolling shooter in the form of Omega Five, a game that will definitely bring tears to your eyes -- but for a vastly different reason. First of all, there really aren't any visible signs of a story here. That isn't surprising, however, considering this type of game, so that can be overlooked. You'll begin with two characters to choose from and possibly get two more (more on that later). The characters play mostly the same, though, with only slight weapon tweaks and special abilities here and there. The controls take a unique approach with the "letter buttons" not being used at all.

TAJIKISTAN: CITIZENS PONDER BLEAK FUTURE AMID HARSH WINTER
The minus-22 reading recorded in Dushanbe on January 19 was the lowest recorded temperature in the city since 1982. The countrys antiquated infrastructure has not been able to cope with the cold, prompting drastic cuts in electricity. In Dushanbe, residents still receive a couple of hours of power every day, but many report having no heating. The situation is far worse outside the capital. For example, electricity has been completely cut off to several districts of southern Khatlon Province, according to the Asia-Plus news agency. Schools have shut down and many businesses and light industrial enterprises have ceased operations. The deaths of several newborns in hospitals have been attributed to the combination of the cold and the lack of power. The crisis is such that officials decided on January 15 to divert a limited amount of electricity from the Tajik Aluminum Plant one of the countrys main economic assets, and its largest single consumer of power for civilian needs.
Police: DNA link leads to man's arrest for 1997 rape, killing of ...
Chase's family praised investigators in a statement issued at the Sunday news conference. "As you might imagine our emotions have run the gamut since we first heard of the DNA match with Susannah's case. We are delighted that a suspect has been identified and apprehended," the family said. Chase was walking home alone early Dec. 21 after an argument with her boyfriend when she was beaten with a baseball bat and left for dead in an alley a block from her home. Police believe the intended motive of the attack was sexual assault. Police never gave up on the case, and interviewed more than 100 people to try to find Chase's killer, Beckner said. DNA taken from seminal fluid found on Chase's body that was entered into a national DNA database, apparently recently, matched Olmos-Alcalde's, Beckner said.
